Thermal dispersion flow sensors measure the velocity of a fluid in a pipe or duct.
The sensor probe contains two major components: a heater sensor and a temperature sensor.
The heating sensor is placed closest to the flowing fluid and provides constant heat.
The temperature sensor measures the temperature given off by the heating sensor.
When liquid flows, there is a temperature difference between the two sensors.
This temperature difference is proportional to the flow rate (fast flowing fluids cause a larger temperature difference and vice versa). Because the unit contains no moving parts, there is no wear and tear and it has a long life.
Applications:
Petrochemicals, hydroelectric plants, shipyards, HVAC systems, steel industry, food and beverage industry, pharmaceutical sector, optics and semiconductor industry, cooling water flow control - basically any pipeline in which flow of fluid needs to be measured.
